Croatia’s digital nomad temporary stay route is for third-country nationals who work through communication technology for an employer or their own company that is not registered in Croatia and does not provide work or services to Croatian employers.
It is a temporary stay route, not a Croatian work permit and not a direct permanent residence or citizenship route.

Application Flow
- Confirm that the work is remote and for a non-Croatian employer, client, or own company.
- Decide whether to apply online, through a Croatian mission, or through the competent police administration/station.
- Prepare passport, health insurance, remote-work proof, means of subsistence, criminal-record proof, and Croatian address information.
- Submit the application.
- Respond to the case worker if additional documents are requested.
- After approval and arrival, register temporary residence address within 3 days.
- Attend the biometric residence permit step in person.
- Plan departure, extension, or a later new application before the stay expires.
Good Fit
This route is strongest for remote workers who want a temporary Croatian base, can show strong foreign income or savings, do not need local Croatian clients, and accept that the route is capped at 18 months before a waiting period.
Poor Fit
It is usually a poor fit for applicants who need to work for Croatian employers or clients, want an uninterrupted long-term residence route, cannot meet the funds threshold, or need family members approved before the main digital nomad stay is granted.
