Albania’s digital mobile worker file is document-driven. The weak cases are usually not about the name of the route; they are about unclear contracts, missing legalisation, weak support evidence, or confusion between visa and residence steps.

For route fit, start with the main Albania guide. For tax residence, family, and practical setup, use the tax and practical setup guide.

Contract Evidence

The contract should do more than say “remote worker.” It should show:

  • the employer, contractor, or customer is outside Albania;
  • the work can be performed through information technology;
  • the worker does not need a concrete workplace in Albania;
  • the contract is valid for the intended stay;
  • compensation or income can be connected to the support proof.

Financial Evidence

The Ministry of Interior gives two support routes:

OptionThreshold
Bank depositAt least ALL 300,000 per person for 1 calendar year
Monthly incomeAt least ALL 32,000 per person

The deposit route specifically refers to a personal or family bank deposit certificate in second-level banks in Albania. Applicants relying on foreign bank records should verify whether the authority will accept them or whether an Albanian bank certificate is expected.

Visa And Application Channel

The e-Visa portal says type D visas are for foreign citizens who intend to stay in Albania for more than 90 days in 180 days and need a visa to obtain a residence permit. The Ministry of Interior says digital mobile worker unique-permit applications are filed online through e-Albania service 15146.

The Ministry of Interior also says this category does not need employment approval. Where a type D/LD visa is required, the application is reviewed directly by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Processing And Renewal

The official unique-permit processing range is 4 to 12 weeks from application. The first digital mobile worker permit is issued for up to 1 year. The same official page lists ALL 2,250 as the renewal service fee, so renewal should be planned before expiry with updated contract, support, insurance, residence, and tax evidence.
