Romania’s digital nomad checklist is document-heavy. The route expects a clean foreign work structure, not a light statement that someone can work online.
Start with the main Romania Digital Nomad Visa guide if you are still checking eligibility. Use the timeline and costs guide to plan filing sequence.

Foreign Work Proof
For employees, the eVisa checklist asks for the employment contract in original form, with authenticated Romanian translation, concluded with a company registered outside Romania. It must prove remote services through information and communication technology.
For company owners, prepare proof that you remotely manage or perform activity through a company registered outside Romania. The eVisa checklist refers to proof of remote management and use of information and communication technology.
Foreign Company Evidence
The file should include an original up-to-date official document about the foreign company, with authenticated Romanian translation. It should show:
- company identification details;
- contact details;
- field of activity;
- the applicant’s participation in the company where relevant;
- information on legal representatives.
Tax And Fiscal Residence Certificate
Romania asks for a document, apostilled or superlegalised where applicable, issued by the competent fiscal authority of the place of fiscal residence. It should attest that the employed applicant or their foreign company paid taxes and compulsory contributions up to date and is not registered with acts or facts connected to tax evasion or tax fraud.
This can be the slowest part of the file. Start it early and confirm what the Romanian consular post will accept.
Income Evidence
The means-of-support rule is strict: at least three times Romania’s average gross monthly salary for each of the last six months before the visa application, plus the whole period covered by the visa.
Use bank statements, payslips, dividend or director-fee evidence, company payment records, tax filings, and contracts that tie income to the qualifying remote activity.
Insurance, Accommodation, Travel, Passport
The checklist requires medical insurance covering the entire requested stay with at least EUR 30,000 coverage.
Accommodation can be a voucher, firm reservation with a tourist accommodation unit, or proof of accommodation ensured by a host company if applicable. Travel evidence can include a valid air ticket reservation or vehicle documents for drivers.
The passport must be accepted by Romania, must allow a visa to be affixed, must exceed requested visa validity by at least three months, and must have been issued no later than ten years ago. Two recent 3 x 4 cm colour photos are listed.
