Hungary’s White Card file should prove a simple fact pattern: foreign work, enough foreign income, Hungarian accommodation, healthcare coverage, and no Hungarian gainful activity.

Start with the main Hungary White Card guide if you are still checking eligibility. Use the timeline and costs guide to plan filing sequence.

Foreign Employer Evidence

For employment outside Hungary, NDGAP lists a certified employer statement confirming:

  • the scope of the employer’s activities;
  • the provision on remote electronic work and authorised duration;
  • the applicant’s duties and position.

The real and actual operation of the employer must also be certified.

Foreign Company Evidence

For applicants who own shares in a foreign company with proven profits, documents should show:

  • real and actual operation of the company;
  • job title and position held by the applicant;
  • scope of the company’s activities;
  • applicant’s ownership of shares in the company.

The company’s operation may be verified through public registration documents, authentic instruments, tax-authority certificates proving regular income or profit, or other credible evidence.

Income Evidence

The income threshold is EUR 3,000 net/month. The applicant needs this level of legal income for at least six months before entry and throughout the stay in Hungary.

NDGAP lists bank statements for the previous six months and regular-income certificates from an employer or tax authority as possible proof.

Accommodation And Healthcare

Accommodation can be proven with a residential lease, a courtesy accommodation document, proof of ownership, or evidence of accommodation reservation and payment.

For healthcare, the applicant should prove access to comprehensive health-insurance services covering all healthcare services, access under an international treaty or agreement, or ability to cover healthcare costs based on available means.

Common Mistakes

  • relying on Hungarian client or employer income;
  • holding a share in a Hungarian company;
  • showing gross income when the rule is net income;
  • providing less than six months of bank or income evidence;
  • treating family members as covered by the White Card;
  • assuming a second extension or permanent residence path exists.
