The Netherlands Highly Skilled Migrant permit is the national Dutch route for skilled employees hired by an IND-recognised sponsor. It is often the practical default for Dutch employers that already hold recognised sponsor status.

Good Fit
The Highly Skilled Migrant route is strongest where a Dutch employer is already a recognised sponsor, the salary criterion is met, and the worker wants a direct employer-led Dutch work permit without proving Blue Card mobility strategy.
Poor Fit
It is usually a poor fit where the employer is not recognised by IND, where salary is below the applicable threshold, or where the applicant mainly wants EU-wide Blue Card mobility benefits.
