Luxembourg EU Blue Card

Luxembourg’s EU Blue Card is the main highly qualified employment route for third-country nationals who will live in Luxembourg and work there for more than 3 months.

The route is employer-linked but the salaried worker submits the residence-permit application. The employer must declare the vacant position to ADEM, but highly qualified workers are not subject to the labour market test.

Good Fit

This route is strongest for high-salary Luxembourg employment where the role is genuinely highly qualified, the contract is at least 6 months, credentials are documented before filing, and the worker may value EU Blue Card mobility or long-term-resident aggregation.

Poor Fit

It is usually a poor fit for salaries below EUR 65,652/year, short contracts, ordinary salaried jobs that need the regular third-country worker route, freelancers, cross-border workers not residing in Luxembourg, and remote workers keeping a foreign job.
