Latvia investor residence is an immigration status. It should be kept separate from tax residence, local work rights, family relocation, permanent residence, and citizenship planning.
Family
OCMA route pages describe spouse and minor-child documentation. A family file usually needs civil-status records, proof of relationship, passport copies, subsistence evidence, and in some child cases consent from the other parent.
Tax
Investor residence does not, by itself, answer whether Latvia taxes worldwide income. That depends on tax-residence facts, days, home, economic interests, treaty position, company activity, and income type. Property rent, company dividends, employment, director fees, and capital gains can each trigger separate analysis.
Work Rights
Do not assume every investor permit supports every work pattern. OCMA employment materials distinguish residence permits, employment rights, invitations, sponsorships, and commercial activity. Before taking a Latvia role, director function, local consulting work, or operational company position, check the exact permit inscription and employment rules.
Permanent Residence and Citizenship
Latvia can have long-term residence and naturalisation pathways, but an investor permit is not a citizenship route by itself. Residence continuity, language, integration, lawful income, absence rules, and nationality rules need separate review.
Practical Checklist

|---|---|
| Family | Are spouse and children included from the first filing? |

| Work | Does the permit allow the intended local activity? |
| Renewal | Can the investment and supporting evidence be maintained? |
| Exit | Can the asset be sold or unwound without losing status before renewal or long-term planning is complete? |
